The Night of the Seven Elvises
The Night of the Seven Elvises is a car choreography for thirteen vehicles, unfolding as a living score of movement, sound, and presence. The work draws inspiration from the raggare subculture and the people who inhabit it — local car enthusiasts whose lives are steeped in engines, music, and ritual gatherings.
Through an embodied approach, the project investigates the inner landscapes of these people: their mental health, vulnerability, and complex relationships to one another, their cars, and the world around them. Vehicles are not merely props but performers, dancing with one another and with their human counterparts to create a choreography that blurs the boundaries between human and non-human bodies.
“The performance is a mechanical ballet, as you would say in Swedish, with added elements of live musical performance - it’s important for me that it’s as entertaining as it is hopefully thought provoking.” / Barbara Lehtna
